।। திருமூலர் திருமந்திரம் - இரண்டாம் தந்திரம் - 3. இலிங்க புராணம் - பாடல் 5 ( திருமந்திரத்தில் பாடல் 351 )- பொருள் ।।
இந்த உலகத்தில் நடக்கும் செயல்கள் அனைத்துக்கும் காரணமாணவன் ஈசன் என்பதை அறிந்த தண்டி மணல்களைச் சேர்த்து ஒரு லிங்கம் செய்து அந்த மணல் லிங்கத்தை பசும்பாலால் வழிபட்டான். பசும்பால் வீணாவதைப் பார்த்துக் கோபப்பட்ட தண்டியின் தந்தை அந்த மணல் லிங்கத்தைக் காலால் எட்டி உதைத்தார். தந்தையின் இந்த செயலால் கோபம் கொண்ட தண்டி பசுவை மேய்க்க வைத்திருந்த கம்பை கையில் எடுக்க அந்தக் கம்பு மழு என்னும் ஆயுதமாக மாறியது. அந்த மழுவால் தன் தந்தையின் இரண்டு கால்களையும் வெட்டினான். தண்டீசனின் பக்தியைப் பார்த்த சிவபெருமான் தான் சூடியிருக்கும் கொன்றை மாலையை எடுத்து மகிழ்வுடன் சண்டேசுரருக்கு அணிவித்தான்.

।। Thirumoolar Thirumandhiram - Irandaam Thandhiram - 3. Legend of Lingam - Song 5 ( Song 351 in Thirumandhiram ) - Meaning ।।
" After realising that for all actions in this world Lord Shiva is the Primordial divine power once a devotee named Dhandi gathered sand and made a Linga form and daily prayed it by doing abhsihekam with Cow's milk. On seeing that his son was daily wasting milk his father kicked the Linga form with his legs. This action of his father irked him and with the stick he had for guiding the cows he took and went to cut his father's legs. The stick turned into the axe in Lord Shiva's hands and amputated both his legs. Seeing the extent of devotion of Dhandi the Lord became happy and appeared and adorned him with His kondrai garland. "

" லிங்க உருவத்தையும் லிங்க தத்துவத்தையும் உணர்ந்து இந்த உலகத்தில் நடக்கும் செயல்கள் அனைத்துக்கும் காரணமாணவன் ஈசன் என்பதை அறிந்த உயிர் உடலில் இருந்து உயிரை பிரிக்கவும் மீண்டும் பிறவாமல் பிறவியை அறுக்கவும் தான் உணர்ந்த இறைவனை பூஜை செய்யும் பொழுது உடல் தனது ஐம்புலன்களால் அதை தடுக்கிறது. குண்டலினி சக்தி என்னும் கம்பால் ஐம்புலன்களை அடிக்க குண்டலினி என்னும் கம்பு மழுவாக மாறி உடலில் இருக்கும் இடகலை பிங்கலை மூச்சுக்காற்றை வெட்டி உடலில் இருந்து உயிரை பிரிக்கிறது. உயிரின் பக்தியைப் பார்த்த சிவபெருமான் தான் சூடியிருக்கும் கொன்றை மாலையை எடுத்து மகிழ்வுடன் அந்த உயிருக்கு அணிவித்து தனது அடியவர்களின் தலைவன் என்னும் பதவி அளிப்பார். "

" After internally witnessing the Linga form and realizing the Linga philosophy that Lord Shiva is the Supreme and Primordial divine form, who is the primordial divine power and the cause for all actions in this world, for such a soul to separate it from this mortal body and also to ensure that it is liberated and relieved from the cycle of birth and death, the body prevents it from attaining the Lord using it's five senses. The Kundalini energy then raises to fight against the five senses converts it like an axe weapon in the hands of Lord Shiva and cuts the life breath from the Idakala and Pingala energy channels thus separating the soul from the body. Seeing the devotion of the soul Lord Shiva in happiness adorns the soul with His Kondrai flower garland and also bestows him the role of head of all His devotees. "
