।। திருமூலர் திருமந்திரம் - இரண்டாம் தந்திரம் - 5. பிரளயம் - பாடல் 3 ( திருமந்திரத்தில் பாடல் 364 )- பொருள் ।।
உலகம் முழுவதும் நிறைந்து இருந்த குளிர்ந்த பிரளய கடல் நீர் வடிந்தது. வானகத்தவர்களும் தேவர்களும் கடல் போன்ற எங்கள் எண்ணங்களில் சிவத்தைப் பற்றிய நினைவே வெள்ளம் போல சூழ்ந்து இருக்க வேண்டும் என்று வேண்டினார்கள். கடல்நீரை விண்ணகம் வரை பரவச் செய்த இறைவனும் கடைக்கண் பார்வையால் அருள் புரிந்து பேரொளியாய் எழுந்தருளினன். இத்தகைய பிரளயத்தை ஏற்படுத்தி பின்பு அனைவருக்கும் அருள் செய்த இறைவன் திருவுள்ளத்தை யாரும் அறியவில்லை.

" The cool water that rose and spread around the Universe during its dissolution just dried up. The DemiGods and all the celestial beings prayed Lord Shiva that in their thoughts that is spread like ocean the thoughts about Him alone should be everfilled like the waters of flood.
Lord Shiva who made the ocean waters to rise till the upper worlds in sky too graced them through his side glance and gave them the darshan of bright powerful divine light. None realize the greatness of divine mind of Lord Shiva who brought about this Universal dissolution and later graced all through His benevolence. "
