अस्य श्रीविष्णोर्दिव्यसह्स्रनामस्तोत्रमहामन्त्रस्य​ ।
श्रीवेदव्यासो भगवानृषि: ।
अनुष्टुप् छन्दः ।
श्रीमहाविष्णु: परमात्मा श्रीमन्नारायणो देवता ।
अमृतांशुद्भवो भानुरिति बीजं ।
देवकिनन्दनः स्रेष्टति शक्तिः ।
उद्भव: क्षोभणो देव इति परमो मन्त्रः ।
शङखभृन्न्दकी चक्रिति कीलकं ।
शार्ङग्धन्वा गदाधर इत्यस्त्रं ।
रथाङग्पाणिरक्षोभ्य इति नेत्रं ।
त्रिसामा सामगः सामेति कवचं ।
आनन्दं परब्रह्मेति योनिः ।
ऋतु: सुदर्शनः काल इति दिग्बन्ध​: ।
श्रीविश्वरूप इति ध्यानं ।
श्रीमहाविष्णु प्रीत्यर्थे श्रीसहस्रनामजपे विनियोगः ।। ४ ।।

Transliteration - English


Asya shreevishnordhivyasahasranaamasthothramahaamanthrasya ।
ShriVedavyaaso Bhagawaanrushihi ।
Amruthaamshudbhavo bhaanurithi bheejam ।
Devakinandanaha sreshtathi shakthihi ।
Udbhavaha kshobhano deva ithi paramo manthraha ।
Shanghabhrunndhakee chakrithi keelakam ।
Shaarngadhanvaa gadaadhara ithyasthram ।
Rathaanghapaanirakshobhya ithi nethram ।
Thrisaamaa saamagaha saamethi saamethi kavacham ।
Aanandham parabrahmehthi yonihi ।
Ruthuh sudharshanaha kaala ithi digbandhaha ।
Shreevishvaroopa ithi dhyaanam ।
ShreeMahavishnu preethyarthe shreesahasranaamajape viniyogaha ।। 4 ।।

Transliteration - Tamil


அஸ்ய​ ஷ்ரீவிஷ்ணோர்திவ்யஸஹஸ்ரநாமஸ்தோத்ரமஹாமந்த்ரஸ்ய​​ ।
ஷ்ரீவேதவ்யாஸோ பகவாந்ருஷிஹி ।
அனுஷ்டுப் சந்தஹ​ ।
ஷ்ரீமஹாவிஷ்ணுஹு பரமாத்மா ஷ்ரீமந்நாராயநோ தேவதா ।
அம்ருதாம்ஷுத்பவோ பானுரிதி பீஜம் ।
தேவகிநந்தனஹ​ ஸ்ரேஷ்டதி ஷக்திஹி ।
உத்பவஹ​ க்ஷோபணோ தேவ​ இதி பரமோ மந்த்ரஹ​ ।
ஷ்ங்கப்ருந்தகீ சக்ரீதி கீலகம் ।
ஷார்ங்கதந்வா கதாதர​ இத்யஸ்த்ரம் ।
ரதாங்கபாணிரக்ஷோப்ய​ இதி நேத்ரம் ।
த்ரிஸாமா ஸாமகஹ​ ஸாமேதி கவசம் ।
ஆனந்தம் ப்ரஹ்மேதி யோநிஹி ।
ருதுஹ் ஸுதர்ஷனஹ​ கால இதி திக்பந்தஹ​ ।
ஷ்ரீவிஷ்வரூப​ இதி த்யானம் ।
ஷ்ரீமஹாவிஷ்ணு ப்ரீத்யர்தே ஷ்ரீஸஹஸ்ரநாமஜபே விநியோகஹ​ ​ ।। ௪ ।।

Translation


Of this grand mantra, i.e. the Thousand Names of Vishnu, the venerable veda Vyaasa is Rishi.
The meter is Anushtup.
The Diety is Sriman Naaraayanaa, the Supreme Soul, the All-pervader.
The seed of the Mantra is the Sun because of which the Moon shines.
The power of this Mantra is Devaki's son.
The essential part of the mantra is the Creator of the Universe.
The linch pin of this great mantra is the God Vishnu who holds the Shanghu and Nandakee Chakram in his hands.
The weapon of the mantra is the Lord Vishnu who holds the Gadhaa and Bow and Arrow in his arms.
The eye of this mantra is the Lord Vishnu who resides in the ocean and is ever fearless.
The armor of this mantra is the Saama who is prayed at all three times of the day.
The womb of genesis of this Mantra is the Happy Para Brahma or the Supreme Soul.
The enclosure binding the directions (east, west, south and north) is the one controlling the six seasons and delightful to see - kaala.
The contemplation is on the Universal form.
Its purpose and utility is in the Thousand Names being used for praising and pleasing Vishnu.
